One of the final parts of your quilting project is attaching the binding to the quilt. We’ve assumed you’ve attached one side using your sewing machine. We’d like to share some Tips and Tools for that last hand sewing of the other side of the binding.
What hand needle do you use when sewing your binding?
Hi Katherine – sometimes we just grab whatever is around! But we’d recommend a size 8. Here’s a link to what we have in stock https://cobwebsandcaviar.com/product/needles-hand-quilting-john-james-brand/
Thank you…binding is probably โunder-taughtโ…nice to see a good demo
Thanks, Heather! Sometimes we forget the importance to teaching the final touches.

Fabulous demo, it is definitely the most undertaught part of quilting!! Thank you for the suggestions on self injury…I think we married to the same type of husband!!
Thanks! And yes, avoiding self injury is so key ๐
Thanks AJ I learned something today. My bindings will improve!
Awesome!!! ๐
Awesome video with great binding tips! Wondering how far apart the stitches are?
Thanks, Lana! AJ sticks with 1/8″ to 1/4″ apart and she doesn’t stress about it. Some people do closer. She does what works and if it looks solid and tidy.
Thank you so very much for this helpful video AJ and Deb. I have learned some amazing wee secrets and my bindings are about to get better and more enjoyable!
Thanks for the feedback, Wanda!
