What is a Quilt Along? Well, basically, it’s an informative quilting blog that provides regular tutorials so quilters can complete a project as they follow along. It has a Comment section so quilters can ask questions and share ideas.

Tips When Shopping
We have a shopping list below but here are some tips as well:

Choosing Fabric for Top:
The pattern is fat quarter friendly so check through your stash, or pop in and take advantage of our “6 Fat Quarters for $25” special. To shop online, click here, using the Comments section to guide AJ the Curator.

Audition your choices by laying them out in the same order as you plan to use them in the pattern. Move them around, make changes until you’re happy. If you’re like me, you may forget the desired order so take a photo with your phone!

hummm….                                             not quite…..                                           oh I like that!

Also label the pattern and pin corresponding tags A through F on the fat quarters, with A being the centre.

Choosing Fabric for Backing:
When you’re choosing your fabric for the backing, please note that you will be cutting it in half and sewing it together, end to end. So don’t pick directional fabric or anything that would need to be matched to look good.

Choosing Fabric for the Binding:
NOTE that the very last curves on each end of the top (after fabric F) are made with the binding fabric.

Choosing Batting:
The pattern calls for fusible batting; please make sure it is one sided fusible. We will be working with the batting exposed and pressing smaller pieces onto it so double sided fusible would be very messy.

You can just use regular batting. Batting such as Hobbs 80/20 will be fine. To keep the regular batting in place on the backing fabric, you may want to use a basting spray such as 505 Spray.
