Jaybird Quilts does such wonderful quilt and mini quilt patterns. Their claim to fame is to make geometrically inspired patterns with simplified techniques. With the “Arcade Game” pattern, the simplified technique is how to do a 3D tumbling block without the dreaded Y seam! It’s a fat quarter friendly pattern as well, and comes with four size options: Baby (40″x51″), Lap (48″x65″), Twin (64″x93″) and King (104″x106″).

This is also a great project to play with colour value: light, medium, dark. The pattern photo uses solids. We did one with more muted tones from an animal print fabric line. This time, Deb has gone through her sizeable stash of Asian fabrics* and had fun mixing and matching the fabrics. What will your colour choices be?

Since Deb is cutting from yardage versus fat quarters, she is cutting one strip 18″ x width of fabric from each fabric and then cutting each strip in half. This creates two fat quarters, each approximately 18″ x 21″. One group of fat quarters will be used for “Arcade Game”. Deb plans to use the second group of fat quarters to do a Turning Twenty quilt or the Turning Twenty Stained Glass pattern that incorporates a panel.

How does the online quilt class work? When it is first launched on March 3, we do a little Facebook Live that morning and then you watch our video at your leisure! But you can sign up at any time after that and take the class when it’s convenient for you….a big benefit of online classes!

Need help with your colour choices? Just let us know and we’ll work with you to sort that out. Have questions along the way? Ask it in the Comment section of this post or email us at cobwebsandcaviar@gmail.com

Deb has her pieces all cut and ready to sew….she’s hoping you’ll join us for this online class!

To register, you just buy the Arcade Game pattern and pay $10 for the class. We recommend you buy the Sidekick ruler as well because it makes the cutting much easier. It cuts triangles, half triangles. and diamonds so it can be used with other patterns as well. In fact, Jaybird Quilts has several patterns that use it. We’ll also show you how to make templates if you prefer to go that route. After you register, we’ll send you the link to the Class video. Click here to register!

If you already have the pattern, you can choose just to pay for the class. Email us at cobwebsandcaviar@gmail.com, saying you just need the Arcade Game class, and we will invoice you for the $25 (+tax) then send you the Class link.

As always, we love Show ‘n Tell so please send us your completed project photos!
